Did you forget? White supremacy never ends. These are our elders fighting and telling their struggle. Our great-grandparents, grandparents and parents. And their grandparents and parents. It’s amazing to me how the views of Black people and White people differ in terms of what reality was. If we continue to allow White people to describe history, they would say they are our saviors. That slavery was good for everyone, particularly Black people. They would say we sang in the fields because we were happy. That we were naked without them and they provided us food and shelter.
Their version is that we enjoyed being enslaved, being raped and bred, breast-feeding their children, working in the fields from sun up to sun down, living in shacks, starving, losing family members, being beaten and tortured, and scared for our lives. They would say we loved having the same status as an animal as property of our enslavers and being considered less than a human being, less than a person. White revisionist history would say we loved Jim Crow laws and living “in our place”. They hold weddings, parties, and events on slave plantations throughout the south. They take pictures smiling and partying on land where our ancestors toiled, bled, and died.
Racism, white supremacy, and injustice continues today. You can’t copulate your way out of racism and discrimination. We’d be free from discrimination and racism now If that were the case. Instead, we continue to be targeted under systemic racism today. Most recently, it is under the guise of being Black equals being automatically unqualified for skilled and knowledgeable positions. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion promotes equality and inclusion for all people and to close the gaps in marginalized groups such as Black People and mentally and physically disabled individuals.
DEI does not mean that unqualified individuals are taking jobs. It is allowing qualified and knowledgeable marginalized individuals opportunities to work, advance, and to be treated fairly in spite of their identity or disability. DEI has become a racist code word for equality for black people specifically and other marginalized groups are lumped in with us. Do you really believe DEI would be an issue if Black People were not included? If DEI was only limited to white gays, white women, and disabled whites? NO!
The fear of Martin Luther King, Jr. is now a reality – we have integrated ourselves into a burning house. Forget what Snoop Dogg, Beyonce, Kendrick, and your favorite white bunny are doing. Our celebrities are paid to sing, dance, and toe the line and that is exactly what they are highly paid to do. Some Black people are very concerned with the white gaze. There is no magical or perfect Negro.
We have a history of Black celebrities who have integrated themselves into white society and played the perfect Negro. They are so-called considered the exception to the rule. But, once you take off those lace-front wigs, makeup, and expensive clothes, you are still a nigger to white society. We had Sidney Poiter, Sammy Davis Jr., Josephine Baker, James Earl Jones, Michael Jackson, Oprah, and Obama. Eventually, these candy-coated Blacks still experienced racism and discrimination even though they copulated with or center their focus around white people.
In the end, white supremacists hate Black people, period. There is nothing we can do to make them accept us more. Their hate for us is more than their love for themselves. They will cut programs and benefits to minorities, even if they will also lose access to those programs and benefits. The politicians will fire people in critical positions that will cause harm to everyone if the person is what they perceive to be a “DEI” hire or a black person. They will understaff critical agencies in an attempt to save money while harming more people than the dollars they’re attempting to save.
Meanwhile, Democrats will play the good cop. Both Democrats and Republicans do not care about ordinary people. Career politicians do not fly commercial or pay rent. They own luxury homes and fly private. They conduct inside trading and insider contracts to obtain and retain their wealth. The Democrats will wait in the cut for 3.5 years then come out from under their rocks and shuck and jive for votes in the last hour. They are destroying the federal government while capitalizing on the harm they do. They will fire civilians and outsource their jobs to their companies and reap the benefits. Democrats and Republicans both ignore the working-class people.
They want to remove and erase us in all forms except entertainment. They want to either erase or gloss over our history because they claim they shouldn’t feel guilty for Black enslavement, torture, discrimination, and lynching. Revisionist history now terms the enslaved as migrant servants and claim there is no real proof that “servants” were unpaid. This is what revisionist history is doing to our history and culture.
It is time to wake up. White people pretend to be your friend until you anger them. Then they will show their true color which is white rage. They once wore sheets, and now they wear suits and ties. White supremacy still determines how we live, how we work, where we live, and if we live at all. We live by their rules. Some Black people are sold out and are put in place to pacify. How we have sold ourselves is different than how our African ancestors sold us but the goal and end result is still the same.
Then and now the belief was that what the white man does to our countrymen and captives, they will not eventually do to us again. This is a belief and a reality we have yet to overcome. Just as white supremacists hate us more than they love themselves, our love for their acceptance and accolades has been to our own detriment. There are too many Black people who place more value on white acceptance than the value we place on ourselves.
If you manage to take a break from the Housewives and Shannon Sharpe slave play with his white bunny fiasco, watch the entire movie Freedom on My Mind documentary film.
Culture Blurb thanks the producers and participants of this movie for not holding back their true stories.
