Maze Live In New Orleans

Frankie Beverly and Maze

Posted on May 2, 2021June 19, 2022 by Contributing Writer

Frankie Beverly and Maze is a rhythm & blues, funk, and soul band. Maze was formed by Howard Beverly aka Frankie Beverly after relocating from Philadelphia to San Francisco in 1976. Frankie Beverly signature look is wearing a white ball cap and white clothing during concerts. Music the band has created throughout the decades is part of the soundtrack of black culture. Their music can be enjoyed by every generation from great-grandma to the toddler. Frankie Beverly and Maze music brings to mind of hot summer, laughter, iced tea, bbq smoke, lemonade, love, dancing, and having a good time with family and friends.

Philadelphia has created a lot of soul and funk hit makers. Using the Philly sound of soul and funk, Frankie Beverly and Maze have created albums featuring music that speaks to the heart. All of their songs were written by Frankie Beverly. Their first album Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly released in 1977, included the hits “Happy Feelin’s” and “While I’m Alone”. Maze follow up album contained the hit “Golden Time Of Day”. Other subsequent albums included hits “Southern Girl”, “Joy and Pain”, and “Back In Stride”. The group released eight studio albums and two live albums. Their Live in New Orleans album features the hit “Before I Let Go”.

Maze and Frankie Beverly have created many hits and are music legends. No black family reunion, party, wedding, cookout, and even some home-going celebrations can close without a few Frankie Beverly and Maze songs. With “We Are One”, Frankie reminds us that ‘no matter what we do, we are one’. Frankie Beverly and Maze are still performing live concerts. Black culture will never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, let Frankie Beverly and Maze go.
