I was told about the death of Chadwick Boseman right before I went to bed last night. I’ve been having a Florida Evans moment since then. Why him and why now? This is a year that is going down in history and it has claimed Chadwick Boseman. Chadwick Boseman has played so many pivotal roles and has portrayed black male characters with dignity, respect, and honor. He refused to play black men in negative stereotypical roles that white executives wanted him to play.
I’m going to spend this weekend re-watching him as Jackie Robinson in the movie 42 and as James Brown in the movie Get On Up. I will re-watch him avenge his sister in Message From The King in which I could have sworn he was a true South African. I’m going to finish with his complete take-over of the Marvel universe and the role in which he won the heart of black people globally with the role as the Black Panther/T’Challa.
Chadwick Boseman was an incredible actor and I am saddened that he has been taken at such a young age. Please join me in re-watching his movies. Culture Blurb acknowledges Chadwick Boseman’s contributions to black society with his positive portrayals of black men in his movie and television roles, and his generosity and contributions off-screen. Wakanda forever.
