Podcasting is no longer just for white men huddled in the basement ranting about the government. Podcasting has also become a way for black people to share their knowledge, thoughts, and experiences about everything from situationships to politics and everything in between. While NPR and others are great, there are times when I need to hear the perspectives of others who are also living life as a black person in America. Here are five black Podcasters I listen to relating to legal, law, and being black in the workplace.
1. The Trill MBA Show by Felicia Ann Rose Enuha speaks in our language. The show is a career management podcast for professional blacks – especially black women in Corporate America. Felicia Ann Rose Enuha just may well be the trillest MBA you ever know and wish you could work side-by-side with. According to her website, her goal is to help people survive and thrive in the workplace. With episode titles such as Sh*t You Need to Know For The Workplace and Legal Therapy, she is the mentor you wish you had and the one you need to make it through the work day.
2. Black Law and Legal Lies is hosted by Dan, Ann, and occasionally Afro Becky. The Black Law and Legal Lies podcast has funny and relatable discussions about law amongst a trio of friends. One who may be on drugs, and one who is a practicing attorney bringing the legal knowledge. Dan is the voice of the everyday black man voicing questions and an occasional outrage while Ann is the voice of legal reason. They speak on the law as it relates to current events. For example, they even have an episode on what happens when your attorney dies in the middle of your case.
3. Full-Time Black Woman podcast is hosted by Aleese Real and Esha Belle. Their focus is to create a safe space for professional black women. Their episodes have an occasional free-style rap, lots of laughs, and plenty of knowledge. They discuss anxiety in the workplace, being pregnant in the workplace, and even how to deal with toxic aunties in the workplace. The discussions are authentic, fun, and informational.
4. Bruthas N Law podcast is hosted Jesse and Sean who are two black men who are lawyers. Specifically, they are working lawyers and fathers who bring a comedic spin and a legal view on current events and issues affecting black people. With more than 60+ episodes, these Bruthas are still going strong after more than 4 years of podcasting.
5. Hello Somebody podcast is hosted by Senator Nina Turner. Ms. Turner is not faking the black woman politician experience. Her topics speak on social justice, politics, not settling, and inspirational aspirations. Hello Somebody has a range of guest speakers to inspire and ignite. Accordingly, as a listener you come to realize the Somebody she’s speaking to…is YOU.
